Meet Chris Corbett

Self Confessed Basketball Junkie.  Web Marketing Warrior.  Player Development Coach.  Businessman.  Fan of John Wooden and Mark Cuban.   On a quest to improve American Basketball one click and one player at a time.   Learn more about why American Basketball needs you to get paid while you pursue your passion.

Fell in love with the game of basketball in his teens playing on the playgrounds of Queens and Manhattan, New York.  The game helped propel Chris out of a deadend neighborhood into playing college basketball at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.  Chris later had his “light bulb’ moment watching NBA players train in the offseason at the Spectrum Club in Manhattan Beach, California.  The teaching and support he witnessed were amazing and Chris incorporated that into his own game and the game of the kids he coached.

Chris’s career has spanned success in the restaurant, portfolio management, internet marketing, and the new home industry.  In 2009, his career took a major nosedive and he found himself without a place at the table in corporate America.  Really tough times for his family down to an empty fridge and $200 in a bank account.   Faced with no network in his new city of Austin, Chris and his family founded Austin Youth Basketball.

Austin Youth Basketball was founded on the concept that kids were over coached and under taught.  Chris vowed to teach kids how to play rather than teaching them plays.   Could personalized player development be a real business model?  Chris was not really worried about that.  He wanted to put some milk in the fridge for his two daughters.  He knew he could deliver real value and communicate the value… but would people pay?

One student became another, and in the month of April, 2012 Chris had 152 personalized training sessions, 2 basketball academies running, and was preparing for 4 sessions of basketball camps.   The most important reward were the emails of parents and kids sharing their new success and confidence on and off the basketball court.

Austin Youth Basketball was a part time business built with a full time income and most importantly a huge impact.   Chris had successfully connected the dots in his life by combining his love of basketball with his love of marketing and delivering real value.   This was not work for Chris… it was fun.  Chris consistently credits his wife Heather and two daughters Ellie & Charlee for supporting him on many levels.   Corporate America did not have room for the Corbetts at the table.  So the Corbetts created their own table.

In 2011, Coach Terrence Jones of Ultimate Champions Basketball in San Antonio noticed the traction Chris was getting on the internet.  Coach “TJ” already had built one of the most successful training businesses in America.  After a month of conversations, Terrence hired Chris to help with his marketing efforts and watched as his website rose to the number 1 position in Google for terms that made Terrence’s phone ring with new customers every day.

Chris wants to share the powerful marketing system that has built two very successful basketball training businesses that continue to grow month over month.  His vision is 100 passionate and expert coaches impacting 10,000 American Youth Basketball Players.  100 sustainable business supporting the families of those passionate trainers and coaches so they don’t leave their passion for a “real job.”

Buzzworthy Basketball builds profitable basketball training businesses for passionate coaches and trainers.  Dominant websites, proven marketing tools, and turnkey systems that make the phone ring with customers and potential profits from day one.
